Olympics up at Francis Lake

Saw Alex's play, Firebrand, at the Mackenzie House. Alex is incredibly smart, talented and inspiring. What am I doing with my life?!

After the show, went to one of my favorite joints in town. Good ole Imperial.

Let's all go to Imperial
Met up with Jeff, Curty and Smythe at the Caledonian on a rainy Thursday for a few Scottish ales.

For Family Day weekend, we went up to Francis Lake, as per tradition.

Who needs Sochi?

We had just been watching the Men's Skeleton Olympics so naturally Stu went face first on the toboggan.

Buddy aka Gordon, the coolest cat I've ever met. He's a giant Maine Coon.

Arm wrestling, of course.

Week started off with a good ole snowstorm. The commute took ages.  Have I mentioned how much I miss my bike?
Definitely toque and big warm poncho weather.
Way too early Valentine's Day flowers from Father.
I love Saturday mornings.
We went for a wander and stumbled upon a gem of a pub. The Museum Tavern was doing a Winterlicous deal so we gave it a go and were pleasantly surprised. The decor in there was fantastic. We were expecting a tacky 60s faux-pub (a la Firkin chain), but instead got a real deal, proper vintage tavern. It's a really great little spot that we've been overlooking this whole time, unfortunately. We'll certainly be going there more often now.
I'm a sucker for fonts in this style. This is below the Museum Tavern.
Saturday night was Stuart's birthday party!

Arm wrestle for the last sausage roll. Classic.

We went to the most bizarre club I've ever been to. It's called The Boat. It's nautical themed and I've never seen so many strange characters on a night out. Maximum hilarity. There was a miserable guy with a green face, a 70yr old bar tender, a guy carrying around a toddler doll and cuddling it like it was real, a Sasquatch who befriended Curt.... and more. Anyway, it did have sweet bathroom tiles.

My Saturday party pretties.

I made a naughty purchase - Diptyque's Eau Duelle. It's incredible. A warm, spicy vanilla fragrance is just what the doctor ordered to help make this horrible winter slightly more bearable.
Morning sun.
Spotted on a snowy winter walk.

The U of T Campus is one of the best looking places in the city.

Sunday evening was all about tea and Mucha. In the Spring we're going to Prague, so I'm brushing up on Mucha. Looking forward to going to the Mucha museum.

A bloody good time.

Went to a pub quiz for charity. The charity was a group that provides menstruation cups to ladies in Africa. Our team name was "There Will Be Blood". Other good names included "The Standing Ovulations", "The Traveling Menstruals", "The Menstrual Cyclists", "The Aunt Flows"... and more.
George and Tam were on our team. I learned that "paloma" means "pigeon" in Spanish.
On Wednesday, Alex came over for dinner and to talk about website stuff. I can't recall the last time I laughed so hard. We ate apple Gorgonzola risotto, drank white wine and reminisced over some funny times. It was an excellent evening.
For work, we went into a high school to audition some teens.
Thursday night we did a pub night with the gang. Finally went to the Dog and Bear. I can see what all the hype is about. It's a great place to go for a pint or two.
Canada won the hockey game that night. Don't ask against who, or what game, or where, or why.
Dubious Stubious.
Bubble tea, rip-off battle ship date night.
I lost miserably. Twice.
Saturday was very snowy and slushy. We braved the terrible weather to have a craft brew (or two) at Bar Volo. Look at that selection!
Sunday we went for a Winterlicious brunch at Banock. I was feeling in a 60s mood so wore this necklace and lace top.

Start of a new winter month means I gotta shell out dough for a new metro pass. Can't wait until the snow melts and I can ride my sweet, sweet bike again.
We went for coffees at a shop called the Belljar Cafe. Great little place.
We walked over 13kms on Sunday

Couldn't resist these ankle boots for only $27 (originally $80). Very Elvis. Looking forward to decent weather so I can actually wear them.
I made yummy hot chocolate with coconut milk, dark chili chocolate, vanilla almond milk and vanilla extract. It was good.

New gal at work brought in leftover superbowl themed cupcakes from her boyfriend's superbowl party. The one with sprinkles is a stadium with the crowd. Clever!
